Friendly and welcoming independent cafe selling good coffee and a variety of homemade baked goods. A great outdoor space to sit and relax and take in the view of the lake and bird life. Highly recommend it if you want a good place for a coffee stop.
Overview
Bloem is a delightful spot tucked away in the heart of 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands, at Prins Hendrikpark 1, 5212 AZ. A local gem that's become increasingly popular, it offers a perfect blend of modern dining and classic comfort. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, Bloem makes an impression with its cozy atmosphere and diverse menu that caters to both the adventurous foodie and those who prefer something familiar.
The restaurant's ambiance strikes a perfect balance-casual yet refined, with a modern flair that doesn’t feel too stuffy. Large windows let in natural light, creating a warm and welcoming space where you can easily lose track of time over a good meal. The combination of wooden interiors and subtle green accents gives it a cozy, inviting vibe. It's ideal for a family meal, a night out with friends, or even a casual date.
What makes Bloem stand out is its menu, which takes traditional Dutch dishes and elevates them with creative twists. For example, you can’t go wrong with their classic “bitterballen,” but they add a little extra magic by pairing it with a rich, homemade mustard dip. It’s the little touches like this that make the food stand out and keep diners coming back for more.
One of the highlights of dining at Bloem is their use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You can taste the difference in every bite, from their hearty stews to the lighter salads. Their attention to detail shines in the way they prepare dishes, with a focus on seasonal produce. If you're in the mood for something light, their "salmon with roasted vegetables" is an excellent choice. The fish is cooked to perfection, flaky and tender, with a hint of smokiness from the roasting process.
Not only does Bloem impress with its food, but it also excels in the service department. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They take the time to explain menu items in detail and offer suggestions if you're undecided. One thing you’ll quickly notice is how well-trained they are in making each guest feel special, ensuring a seamless dining experience from start to finish.
The location, just a short stroll from the city center, makes Bloem easy to access, whether you're a local or just visiting the area. It's also conveniently located near the picturesque Prins Hendrikpark, where you can enjoy a walk before or after your meal. The atmosphere around the area complements the restaurant’s vibe, making it a great spot to enjoy both nature and good food.
Bloem’s drink menu is just as impressive as its food offerings. Their wine list includes a carefully curated selection of wines that pair perfectly with each dish. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or a casual drinker, you're bound to find something that suits your palate. The cocktail menu is equally inviting, with drinks that are expertly crafted to provide a delightful experience. For those who prefer non-alcoholic options, there are plenty of refreshing mocktails to choose from.
When it comes to dessert, Bloem knows how to finish a meal on a high note. The "Dutch apple pie" is a fan favorite, and for good reason. It’s the perfect balance of sweetness with a buttery crust, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that melts perfectly in your mouth. Their seasonal offerings are also a treat for the tastebuds, with flavors changing throughout the year to reflect the freshest ingredients available.
Bloem isn't just about great food and a comfortable environment-it’s a place where you can feel at home. The restaurant’s commitment to quality is evident in both its food and its service, making it a standout in the local dining scene. If you’re in the area or planning to visit, make sure to stop by Bloem for an unforgettable dining experience.

It is sooo beautiful and so many options to drink and cakes and cookies. I love this place
I love this location not only for it’s surrounding. The walk around the pond is a nice way to work out. The treat at the end is a cup of coffee or tea with a cookie or piece of pie. Highly recommended. And free WiFi.
Delicious coffee and orange cake. Very peaceful and friendly atmosphere
Great place, great cake, great coffee and great staff!
I tried the blueberry scone and it was fantastic. Coffee was also great.
Super cute little cafe right by the lake. They have a lovely range of cakes and cookies (including vegan options!) and some of the best coffee in Den Bosch. 2025 update - Can confirm, still the best coffee in Den Bosch and the fig and fennel cookies are still delicious.
My husband and myself just love this little place. It's old-world combined with trendy. It's unpretentious, homely and the setting is perfect. Ideal for a walk-and-treat, sitting in a deck chair reading with a cup of coffee and cake or simply watching the world go by and unwinding. Thanks for creating this little gem.
